Greetings from the Desk of Journal Coordinator!
As ECMO continues to evolve and expand its footprint in India, we are proud to present the latest issue of the Indian Journal of ECMO.This issue reflects not only the scientific and clinical progress in our field, but also the spirit of collaboration and inquiry that continues to drive innovation in extracorporeal life support.Over the past decade, ECMO has transformed from a rescue therapy used in rare, extreme cases into a more accessible and systematically integrated option in many intensive care units across the country.Improved technology, expanding clinical experience, and structured training programs have made it possible for more centers to confidently initiate and manage ECMO in complex cardiac and respiratory conditions.Yet, with this growth comes a responsibility to ensure standardized, evidence-based practice supported by robust data and open discourse. This issue brings together a diverse and timely set of contributions. We begin with a compelling review article on the role of ECMO in aluminium phosphide poisoning, a condition uniquely prevalent in South Asia, where early and aggressive ECMO support may be lifesaving.Another insightful piece explores sedation practices in ECMO patients-a nuanced topic with significant clinical implications, especially in long-term management. We also feature a narrative review on translational medicine and its intersection with ECMO, which highlights how benchside discoveries are being applied at the bedside to improve outcomes.A notable case report in this issue presents the successful use of VA-ECMO in a patient with refractory cardiogenic shock due to acute enteric myocarditis, emphasizing the expanding indications of ECMO even in rare etiologies. In addition to these articles, this issue includes selected abstracts from researchers and clinicians across India that will be presented at the upcoming ECMO Society of India's National Conference, scheduled to take place from May 15-18, 2025 in Kolkata. This flagship event will be attended by faculty and delegates from India and around the world, making it a truly international forum for learning and exchange. The conference promises to offer hands-on training workshops, focused sessions on adult and pediatric ECMO, as well as cuttingedge discussions on topics like anticoagulation, ethics, transport, and hybrid ECLS modalities. We invite all ECMO practitionersclinicians, nurses, perfusionists, and researchers-to join us in Kolkata as we share experiences, debate new strategies, and strengthen our collective expertise. As always, we are deeply grateful for the contributions and engagement of our readers, authors, and reviewers. We hope this issue continues to support your clinical practice, inspire research, and contribute meaningfully to the growing ECMO ecosystem in India.Warm regards,
