RESEARCH OF CAUSAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN DIGITALIZATION AND STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMY

The article is devoted to the analysis of the digitalization of the national economy and its connection with the features of its structural indicators. The study of integral indicators used in world practice to measure digitalization shows that its most important aspects are the degree of network coverage, the involvement of users of digital services, the development of digital infrastructure, the labor market in the ICT sector, the integration of digital technologies into the sphere of public services. At the same time, partial indicators are the digitalization of trade and government. The study is aimed at testing two hypotheses: 1) the intensity of digitalization is determined by the specifics of the structural parameters of national economies; 2) the level of digitalization is a prerequisite for structural transformations of the national economy. The basis for the study was statistical data for 20 countries of the world, which are characterized by different levels of digitalization, economic development, and different geographical locations. The Multidimensional Index of Digitization (DiGiX) was chosen as the indicator of digitalization. The indicators that characterize the structure of the national economy are the share of added value created in agriculture, industry and the service sector, the volume of exports and imports of goods and services, the inflow and outflow of foreign direct investment, and urbanization of the population. The analysis period includes 2016-2024. The methodological tools of the study provide for correlation analysis and causal modeling (Granger test). The results of the study allowed us to partially confirm both hypotheses. In particular, it was found that the level of digitalization of the national economy depends on the intensity of development of industry and the service sector, the volume of foreign trade, urbanization and the outflow of foreign direct investment. On the other hand, digitization has an impact on the parameters of the value added formed in the industry and the agricultural sector, volume of exports, foreign direct investment inflow and outflow and urbanization level.

The study of integral indicators used in world practice to measure digitalization shows that its most important aspects are the degree of network coverage, the involvement of users of digital services, the development of digital infrastructure, the labor market in the ICT sector, the integration of digital technologies into the sphere of public services.
