Optimizing Pipe Network Design Using Genetic Algorithm Integration in EPANET
This study explores the optimization of pipe network design using EPANET software integrated with genetic algorithms (GAs). Pipe networks are fundamental to water distribution systems, and efficient designs are crucial for operational reliability and cost-effectiveness. Through the use of GAs, which emulate evolutionary processes to refine solutions, this research aims to streamline the design process, ensuring stable pressure and flow rates under varying constraints. This paper covers the principles of GAs, the customization of EPANET simulations for network optimization, and the impact of variables such as pipe diameter and roughness on performance. Results demonstrate the potential of GAs to generate optimal designs that balance cost, performance, and resource efficiency.
