Effects of Interval Training and Weight Training on Speed and Agility of Football Players

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of interval training and weight training on speed and agility of football players. 30 male football players of Bankura district were selected for the study. The age of the players were from 16 to 18 years. The players were divided into three different groups viz, Interval Training groups and is (n=10), Weight training group (n=10) and Control group (n=10). The speed and agility were selected as criterion measures for the study. The interval training and Weight training group underwent a 8 weeks of specific training program. The speed and agility were measured by 30 metre sprint and T- test respectively. The pre and post test data were analyzed by using (ANCOVA). The result of the study showed that post test mean of speed (F=3.59 and agility (F=16.2) significant at 0.05 level. It is concluded that Interval training and Weight training programs of 8 weeks it effective for increasing speed and agility of football players.
