Risk management of blockchain technology in the food supply chain

Blockchain has moved beyond cryptocurrencies, and many forward-thinking companies are now investigating blockchain to enhance visibility, efficiency, and trust in their food supply chains. However, encouraged by the massive potential operational and financial benefits of a successful Blockchain adoption, supply chain decision-makers are being held back from quickly adopting blockchain by several known and unknown risks regarding its adoption. Therefore, the present study aims to determine the most critical risks of adopting blockchain in the food supply chain using risk management concepts and multi-criteria decision-making methods, Pairwise Comparison, and Topsis. As an outcome, some risks were found, and after analyzing them with field experts, they were reduced to the number of them. Ultimately, the 10 most critical risks were examined, and many suggestions were discussed at the end so that the outcome of this research could provide fundamental knowledge that would facilitate future decision-makers' integration of blockchain into their food supply chain.
