Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represents a significant global health challenge, with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) being the primary cause in East Asia. Despite antiviral treatments reducing HCC risk, early detection through surveillance remains essential. Shin, Hur, Song, Park, Kim, and coworkers created an artificial intelligence (AI) HCC prediction model called PLAN-B-DF that incorporates six imaging biomarkers (from abdominal CT scans) and eight clinical variables as its primary components. PLAN-B-DF demonstrated an excellent predictive performance in the internal validation set and significantly outperformed previous models in the external validation cohort.
