Multi-objective Antlion optimizer for ring design in a 400kV Tension insulator
The key aspects for the reliability of the system include adequacy, resilience, redundancy, preventive maintenance and monitoring. The E-field in a high voltage insulator plays a major role in deciding the hydrophobicity of the material and initiation of partial discharge. Prevention of these situations can be avoided by ensuring proper design of the ring structures. The E-field in the polluted insulators is greatly affected compared to the virgin insulator due to the effect of surface conductivity and formation of dry bands. In this work, the efficacy of the optimized rings of 400kV insulator is verified under the contaminated conditions. The impact of electric field is analyzed for various thicknesses and orientation of the industrial pollutant. The optimized rings perform well under these contaminated conditions, successfully reducing the electric field below corona initiation levels.
