Analysis of Maximum Correntropy Criterion-based Algorithms for the Control of Shunt Active Power Filter
Shunt active power filters (SAPFs) are a highly efficient and practical solution for mitigating issues related to power quality. The objective of the SAPF is to produce and introduce the necessary electrical current into the power system to remove any unwanted harmonic distortions in the load and achieve a supply power factor of unity. This paper applies three Maximum Correntropy Criterion (MCC) -based algorithms, namely conventional MCC, adaptive kernel width maximum correntropy criterion (AMCC), and switch kernel width maximum correntropy criterion (SMCC), to operate SAPF. Analysis is based on filtering capability, response time, mathematical complexity, and THD in source current. Both open loop and closed loop working of proposed algorithms has been investigated and verified using simulation and experimental results.
