Low-carbon and Economic Operation of Integrated Electricity-HCNG Distribution System Considering Flexible Utilization of P2G Facilities
The integration of distributed renewable generators (DRGs) into the distribution network has brought about serious power balance issues. Power-to-gas (P2G) technology can effectively promote the consumption of the DRGs’ power generation and enable the active distribution network (ADN) and natural gas distribution network (GDN) to be closely connected. In addition, the hydrogen and methane produced by P2G facilities can be blended into the GDN and utilized as hydrogen-enriched compressed gas (HCNG), which effectively increases the flexibility and economy of the GDN. This work proposes an integrated electricity-HCNG distribution system (IEHDS) that includes the ADN and GDN, interconnected through the P2G facility and hydrogen-mixed gas turbines (HMGT). The production and methanation of green hydrogen of the P2G facilities can effectively reduce the carbon emissions of the IEHDS. A low-carbon economic operation model of the IEHDS is proposed in this work to realize the flexible, economical, and low-carbon operation of the IEHDS. Case studies on the proposed operation model are performed on a typical day in the IEEE 33-bus ADN and 10-node GDN test system. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed operation model in improving the low-carbon and economic operation of the IEHDS.
