A Further Performance Improvement of Distributed Photovoltaic Location Planning and Hosting Capacity
The large-scale integration of distributed photovoltaics (PV) into the distribution network has introduced challenges such as voltage over-limit, voltage fluctuation, and branch capacity over-limit, which pose risks to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. This paper addresses the urgent need to plan the location of distributed PV installations effectively and enhance their hosting capacity by leveraging flexible resources. Specifically, we consider two types of flexible resources: network reconfiguration and mobile energy storage, and propose a coordinated approach for PV installation location planning. Taking into account the spatial-temporal characteristics of flexible resources and aiming to achieve a balance between economic viability and hosting capacity, we establish and solve a two-stage stochastic optimization model. This model enables us to determine the optimal installation location for PV systems and devise an operation strategy for flexible resources. To validate the effectiveness of our proposed method, we conduct a case study in a specific region of northwest China. The results demonstrate the efficacy of our approach in improving the hosting capacity of distributed PV systems, as well as optimizing the utilization of flexible resources.
