Selection of Stator Pole Tip for Torque Ripple Reduction of Switched Reluctance Motor
Switched Reluctance Motors are gaining prominence in various industrial and domestic applications due to their robustness and simplicity. However, one of the major challenges associated with switched reluctance motors is the high torque ripple. It is a prominent issue in switched reluctance motors, which leads to undesirable vibrations and noise, impacting the motor’s overall performance. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts in the optimization of switched reluctance motors and provides valuable insights for engineers and researchers involved in motor design. This work focuses on the selection of the stator pole tip to mitigate torque ripple in switched reluctance motors. Using electromagnetic analysis and simulation, the influence of variation in stator pole tip on torque ripple reduction is investigated. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of stator pole tip variation in reducing torque ripple, thereby improving the overall performance and stability of switched reluctance motors. These findings underscore the effectiveness of this design modification technique in the reduction of torque ripple without adversely affecting other motor performance parameters.
