Airport Microgrid Stability Enhancement Using ITAE-Based PID Controller
The microgrid is a set of various small-scale generating and storage units. In this article, frequency deviation of airport microgrid (AμGd) system is controlled using integral-time-absolute-error (ITAE). In AμGd architecture, storage and generating units along with the loads are taken into consideration. As a key feature, aircraft and the electric vehicles present at the airport are also integrated into the AμGd architecture. All components are modeled into the transfer function of first order. The combined transfer function for the AμGd is obtained and approximated into FOPDT model. Further, ITAE tuned PID controller is applied for the improvement of frequency deviation. Responses for frequency deviation are plotted before and after the controller implementation. Time and frequency domain specifications are also tabulated for the performance indices analysis. Obtained results support the validation of implemented control strategy to mitigate frequency deviation.
