A Distributed Fixed-time Economic Dispatch Strategy for Smart Grids Over Switching Communication Networks

This brief investigates the collaborative economic dispatch (ED) problems for smart grids. In order to minimize the generation cost, a consensus-based distributed strategy is proposed to optimally assign the energy demand among distributed generators. Different from the existing distributed ED methods, the proposed strategy achieves fixed-time convergence, which satisfies the fast response requirements and various user preferences. Moreover, the proposed strategy supports switching communication networks and is fully distributed, thus it is more flexible, and robust to communication failures. Finally, two simulation examples on the IEEE 30-Bus systems are presented to validate the effectiveness and fast calculation speed of the presented method.
