Fail Safe Control Strategy For Torque Safety Of Electric Vehicles
As the electric vehicles (EVs) continue to incorporate more electrical and electronic components, the potential for component failures, leading to unintended torque generation, has increased. This paper explores a fail-safe control strategy designed to address unintended torque generation due to failures in the powertrain’s electrical components. The study systematically identifies and categorizes potential faults in the EV powertrain’s current and position sensors. This paper presents corresponding safety mechanisms and fault mitigation strategies. Through simulation, faults are introduced into the system to evaluate their effect on torque and results shows the effectiveness of implemented safety mechanisms in making the system fail safe.
