An Aggregated Model for Wind Power Frequency Regulation Considering Variability in Wind Speed
The aggregation of wind power into the electrical grid for frequency regulation necessitates the calculation of the collective contribution of wind farms to the grid’s stability. Traditionally, the effect of wind speed on the frequency regulation ability of wind power has not been fully studied. This paper introduces an approach to dynamically calculate the contribution of wind power clusters to the grid’s frequency regulation. Initially, the paper analyses the differences in frequency regulation capabilities of wind turbines at various wind speeds. Subsequently, stochastic differential equation is adpoted to generate multiple time series of wind speed that maintain the correlation between wind farms and conform to statistical characteristic. By applying these two methods, the adjustable capacity of the aggregated wind power clusters can be effectively measured, allowing for an assessment of their frequency regulation potential. The proposed method is validated using actual parameters from the Guangdong province power grid in China, confirming its effectiveness.
