Study on surface modification of circuit breaker contact by high entropy alloy for arc ablation
When the circuit breaker switches the high-voltage line, the generated arc will ablate the contact of the circuit breaker, and the high temperature of the arc will melt and evaporate the contact material, thus causing contact damage. In this study, the surface material of circuit breaker contact is modified. High entropy alloy has the properties of ablation resistance, high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance, and becomes an ideal material for surface modification. In this study, NiMoTaWTix high entropy alloy is selected as the coating material, and based on molecular dynamics simulation, it is compared with uncoated exposed circuit breaker contacts to demonstrate the feasibility of this scheme. By changing the proportion of titanium in high-entropy alloy, the optimum content of titanium is found to improve the thermodynamic properties of high-entropy alloy coating.
