Day-ahead Dispatch of Community Integrated Energy System via the Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier Technology
Energy storage is an indispensable component in the community integrated energy system (CIES), offering numerous benefits such as reducing energy consumption and emissions and optimizing system operations. However, energy storage safety issues such as energy leakage, fire, and explosion have not received sufficient attention in energy storage applications. This paper proposes a scheduling strategy for CIES via a safe storage technology namely the liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC). First, a mathematical model of the CIES containing P2H (power to hydrogen) and the hydrogenation reaction model is established. A dual-objective model is then established to optimize the scheduling cost and carbon emissions. The relaxed non-convex product term is transformed into a convex optimization problem by setting different state variables and their corresponding outputs. Finally, the case study results demonstrate that the proposed model can effectively reduce carbon emissions and costs through P2H and hydrogen storage. The comparison results show that the LOHC exhibits significant advantages in terms of safety, hydrogen storage density, and scheduling costs.
