The Control Approach of Energy Storage Batteries Joining in Primary Frequency tuning Grounded in Adaptable Control
The extensive introduction of new energy sources like wind and solar has gone up markedly the frequency fluctuations in the power system, placing higher demands on the frequency tuning capability of thermal power units. Energy storage batteries have become an ideal frequency tuning auxiliary resource due to fast response and flexible output. Especially in the early stages of frequency fluctuations, the fast response of energy storage batteries reduces frequency fluctuations, thereby improving the frequency performance of the system. At present, the main control strategies for energy storage apparatus joining in primary frequency tuning include virtual inertia control and virtual droop control. However, these two control strategies have unsatisfactory frequency modulation effects when the energy storage condition of charge is low or high. In response to this situation, the paper proposes an adaptable control approach that coordinates virtual positive inertia, negative inertia, and droop control to achieve flexible response of the energy storage apparatus to different frequency changes and reduce frequency variance
