Fire Source Identification and Maximum Temperature Variation Analysis in Ventilated Cable Tunnels

The current body of research, both domestic and international, indicates a focus on critical wind speeds, smoke recirculation lengths and temperature field variations in ventilated cable tunnel fires. Nevertheless, research on the identification of fire sources in ventilated conditions remains limited. The influence of wind speeds on the location of the fire source within cable tunnels renders traditional fire-sourcing methods ineffective. It is of great importance to gain an understanding of the positional shift of fire sources under varying wind speeds and the changes in maximum temperatures within ventilated tunnels. This paper employs numerical simulation to evaluate the influence of wind speed on fire development within cable tunnels. A comprehensive simulation model was constructed, and experiments were conducted under diverse ventilation speeds. The findings illustrate a pronounced correlation between wind speed and fire source location shift, and maximum temperature trends were distinctly identified. A model was developed to validate the relationship between fire source displacement and maximum temperature, providing theoretical support to enhance fire detection and safety under ventilated conditions.
