Time Domain Analysis of Short Circuit Faults in Unbalanced Microgrid System

The integration of distributed generation and the development of smart grids have increased the occurrence of short-circuit faults in unbalanced microgrid (MG) networks. This Paper provides an accurate and useful time domain short-circuit analysis (SCA) for evaluating these faults. This analysis produces results to analyze the impacts of various fault types by looking at changes in bus voltages, fault current and supply current during fault circumstances. This approach is particularly suited for microgrid technology, where rapid and precise fault analysis is essential for real-time and self-healing operations. Time domain simulation has been applied on a 37-bus test system and the results are obtained for various types of faults. The time-domain analysis of short-circuit faults is conducted using PSCAD/EMTDC software.
