Analyzing Distribution System Hosting Capacity: Impact of EV integration

A thorough assessment of the distribution lines’ maximum load hosting capacity is required to with stand the increasing load demand. Before undertaking any efforts to reinforce the conductors or cables, it becomes imperative to determine the system’s inherent capacity to support extra load. To ensure that the line’s maximum loading capacity is fully utilized, this strategy plays a crucial role. The primary goal of this study is load growth consideration in terms of residential Electric Vehicles (EVs). It analyzes the effects of increasing load as well as the hosting capacity of the distribution lines to tolerate such an increase as the rolling out of EV’s. The inclusion of renewable penetration has also been considered. This kind of hosting capacity analysis would help consumers and the system operators to investigate the effects, and better prepare for grid operations in the near future. This has been examined for initial configuration of IEEE 33 bus system.
