A Variational Inequality Approach for Modeling Bounded Rationality in Electric Vehicle User Behavior

The rapid growth of electric vehicle ownership will inevitably impact the operational state of coupled power-transportation networks. It is crucial to study how to effectively incorporate the rational behavior of users and guide them in the cooperative scheduling and interaction of the coupled network. In this context, this paper proposes a coupled network model that accounts for the bounded rational behavior of electric vehicle users. First, we construct a second-order cone optimization model of the distribution network that incorporates electric vehicle charging demand. Second, we establish a transportation user equilibrium model that considers bounded rationality, which is equivalently described by variational inequalities. Based on this framework, we design an algorithm that combines immobile point iteration and projection-contraction to solve the coupled network. Finally, we validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and method through arithmetic simulation, and the results demonstrate the necessity of considering bounded rationality in the decision-making processes of user behavior within coupled networks.
