Tracking Global Peak Under Mismatching Conditions With Reduced Steady-State Oscillation For PV Module
A modified perturbation based algorithm to track the global peak (GP) with reduced steady-state oscillation for a photovoltaic (PV) module under mismatching conditions is proposed in this work. The global peak tracking algorithm begins by initializing datasheet parameters of the PV module. The zone is decided based on the range of PV voltage. A perturbation-based technique is used to identify the closest peak. The location of the operating point will be shifted to different zones where there is a possibility of occurrence of GP. The highest value of power among all the peaks is considered as global peak and a conventional perturbation based method is utilized to accurately achieve the global peak. A new methodology is implemented in this paper to nullify the oscillation in the value of duty ratio once the global peak is achieved. This leads to significant reduction of oscillation in the values of PV voltage. The setup containing boost converter connected between PV module and load is used for implementing the proposed method. Further, a comparison is made with the recently published research paper on global peak tracking and a perturbation based method at different shading patterns.
