Efficiency Based Control Strategy for Off-Grid PV integrated Battery Storage System
Energy storage is necessary in off-grid photovoltaic (PV) systems, which require a battery charge controller. However, because of the unpredictable weather patterns and the constant changes in energy demand, the delivery of PV power to the load may fluctuate, resulting in a decrease in battery charging efficiency. To address these challenges, this paper introduces an enhanced power balance control strategy that focuses on optimizing battery efficiency by taking into account the state of charge (SoC) and state of health (SoH). This strategy ensures a balanced distribution of PV power between the DC load and the battery, maximizing the utilization of solar energy while effectively charging the battery. As batteries age, their internal resistance increases and their capacity decreases. This means that battery storage systems (BSS) need an algorithm to effectively manage the battery's state when used with renewable energy sources.
