A Survey of Granularity-Based Hardware Trojan Detection Methods for Gate-Level Netlists

Hardware Troj an (HT) detection is crucial for securing integrated circuits. This paper surveys extensive HT detection methods for gate-level netlists, categorized by granularity: single gate, sub-netlist, and full netlist. Single gate detection identifies anomalies in individual gates, sub-netlist detection examines local segments to detect HTs across interconnected gates, and full netlist detection assesses the entire netlist for HT presence. This paper summarizes these granularity-based methods, focusing on detection granularity, dataset, and results. For the frst time, we explore HT detection at the granularity level, providing an indepth perspective on gate-level netlist detection.
