Multi Spectral Detection Technology for Partial Discharge in Oil Based on SiPM Sensing

Compared with conventional partial discharge (PD) detection methods, optical detection technology has a strong anti-interference ability and is more suitable for PD detection in oil-immersed equipment. Among them, silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) have high sensitivity and integration and have broad application prospects. However, existing research on the application of this technology in PD detection has only been conducted in gas-insulated equipment and has not yet been applied in the field of PD detection for oil-immersed equipment. Therefore, this article proposes a multi-spectral detection technology for PD in oil based on SiPM sensing. Firstly, conduct PD detection experiments in oil and compare the proposed technology with a high-frequency current transformer (HFCT). Secondly, considering different detection distances, explore the detection characteristics of SiPM. Finally, a large number of PD multispectral detection experiments in oil were conducted using SiPM sensors. The results indicate that the sensitivity of the SiPM sensor in detecting PD decreases with increasing distance. The number of PD signals in the 350nm~480nm band is much higher than in other visible spectral bands.
