A Comprehensive Strategy involving Load Restoration and Pavement De-icing for Intelligent Connected Highways after Snow-Ice Disasters
Ice-snow disasters can damage the power lines of intelligent connected highways (ICHs), causing power loss for critical devices. Besides, accumulated ice and snow on the road can lead to traffic accidents and hinder the repair teams and mobile resources from restoring the system. To address these issues, this paper proposes a comprehensive strategy concerning load restoration and pavement de-icing for ICHs, which considers the coordinated operation of compressed air energy storage (CAES) and mobile energy storage system (MESS). Before the repair of devices and power line faults, CAES and MESS function as temporary power sources to establish microgrids that supply important loads. Meanwhile, the thermal storage system of CAES provides heat to the Hydraulic Heated Pavement System (HHPS) to clear accumulated ice and snow, facilitating the rapid movement of repair teams and MESS, thus accelerating the system recovery process. The proposed strategy is established as an MILP model. Through a case study conducted on a real ICH segment, the effectiveness and superiority of the strategy are validated.
