Challenges and Recommendations of Green Ammonia Co-firing in Low-carbon Transformation of Coal-fired Power Generation
Coal-fired power generation is one of the main sources of carbon emissions in China, with an urgent need of low-carbon transformation for future development. Green ammonia co-firing with coal is a technical scheme that could effectively realize low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power generation. Green ammonia produces zero carbon emissions in preparation and combustion, and ammonia co-firing needs no complex reconstruction of coal-fired power plants. This paper introduces the development of key technologies of the green ammonia co-firing, analyzes the main factors restricting the development of green ammonia co-firing in China, and proposes prospects and recommendations on the development of green ammonia co-firing to promote low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power generation.
