Research on Magnetic Levitation Control System of Large Inertia Rotor of Energy Storage Flywheel

By modeling the dynamic characteristics of maglev flywheel rotor, the shortcomings of the traditional distributed PD control method are analyzed by the root locus method. It is found that the gyro effect of large inertia rotor is the main reason for its instability at high speed. To solve this problem, a centralized control method of decoupling the translational mode and the conical mode is proposed. In the process of flywheel speed increase, the translational mode is not affected by the flywheel speed, and the control law is set separately for the cone mode, which can fundamentally suppress the influence of the rotor gyro effect. Due to the limited bandwidth of the actual control system, a control method combining modal decoupling and cross-feedback is proposed, which can effectively reduce the influence of gyro effect on the maglev system.
