Information Modelling of Battery Energy Storage System Based on IEC 61850 Object-Oriented Technique
Battery energy storage system (BESS) is an important part of the new type power systems. With the continuous growth of BESS scale, it is essential to effectively characterize the huge amount of BESS monitoring data. However, different communication protocols lead to a decrease in monitoring efficiency and an increase in system integration costs. On the basis of analyzing the BESS hierarchical structure and the battery management system (BMS) three-level architecture, various information required to characterize energy storage systems are clarified. The object-oriented modeling technique of IEC 61850 is deeply analyzed. Based on the IEC 61850 object-oriented modeling method, an interoperable energy storage system information model is established and applied to a typical BESS, laying the foundation for improving the safety of energy storage system operation, efficient control, and achieving interoperability between devices.
