Voltage Estimation-Based Mobile Energy Storage Scheduling Method for Distribution System

As electricity demand in distribution networks (DN) continues to rise, integrating renewable energy poses stability challenges due to its inherent uncertainty. Although forecasting techniques can predict network load and renewable energy output, relying solely on these techniques may lead to operational instability due to forecast errors. This paper proposes a mobile energy storage (MES) scheduling method to address this problem. First, the voltage fluctuation limits at each node in the DN are calculated based on a voltage interval estimation model, thereby identifying the nodes where MESs can provide auxiliary services. Thereafter, the rolling time-domain optimization technique is applied for periodically adapting MES routes to minimize their travel costs and fuel costs simultaneously. Simulation results show that this method reduces average voltage deviations, lowers operational costs, and allows MESs to maintain optimal SOC levels, ensuring quick demand response and minimal idle time.
