Fault Analysis of Zhejiang Power Grid in China during 2024 Super Typhoon Gaemi

In recent years, the increasingly frequent extreme weather events have impacted the power grid and caused severe economic losses. From 24 July to 27 July 2024, the power distribution network was damaged by typhoon Gaemi in Zhejiang Province in China, resulting in power outages in some areas. Based on the data collected by Zhejiang Power Grid during typhoon Gaemi, this paper first introduces the meteorological characteristics of super typhoon Gaemi. Then, we analyze the fault of distribution networks from disaster distribution, fault causes and response methodology of the power grid. Finally, existing problems with the power grid are illustrated. To respond to these problems, we give relevant recommendations to improve the power grid's ability to withstand typhoon disasters.
