Evaluate the Performance of New Power System: A Multi-criteria Decision-making Framework

One significant step China has taken to address climate change is the implementation of the new power system (NPS). Due to its unique characteristics, it differs significantly from traditional power systems. Thus, this research builds a comprehensive performance evaluation framework for NPS based on the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method. First, a thorough performance evaluation index system was built from four aspects based on the NPS's characteristics. Next, the CRITIC and TOPSIS methodologies are used to form the comprehensive evaluation model. Lastly, a case study is used to verify the efficacy and applicability of the suggested approach using actual data from 2021 to 2023 collected in China. The outcome demonstrates that: in comparison to infrastructure construction, emission reduction performance is the most significant NPS evaluation factor. Moreover, China’s NPS performance has been greatly improved during 2021-2022, while declined slightly in 2023.
