Segmented Detection for Wideband Oscillations in Renewable Powered Systems
Wideband oscillation issues severely impact the secure and stable operation of modern power systems. To achieve rapid and accurate monitoring of wideband oscillations, which is critical for emergency control in practical engineering, a segmented detection method is proposed in this article. Based on requirements for the calculation accuracy and response speed of detecting wideband oscillation, this method analyses the upper and lower limits of the window length corresponding to several frequency components through simulation. Then, the scheme for dividing frequency bands and the appropriate window length for each band are derived. In this article, the traditional windowed discrete Fourier transform (DFT) and interpolation compensation are briefly reviewed, and quantitative indices for the calculation accuracy and response speed of the wideband oscillation detection are defined. The method for segmented detection is introduced in detail, and its effectiveness is verified through case studies.
