Analysis of Cascading Failures in Power Cyber-Physical Systems Under Typhoon Conditions
Given the high coupling of cyber-physical systems in modern power grids, cascading failures are susceptible to natural disasters like typhoons, often leading to widespread blackouts. This study establishes a cascading failure analysis model tailored to typhoon scenarios to assess power CPS vulnerability under extreme weather. First, a typhoon disaster model, based on the Batts model, is constructed to evaluate impacts on transmission lines and initiate failure scenarios. Next, a cascading failure model for power CPS is proposed to simulate failure propagation, followed by simulations analyzing CPS vulnerability under typhoon conditions and assessing physical factors in failure spread. Results underscore the importance of dynamic typhoon path modeling and transmission line vulnerability in failure scenarios. Simulating external forces such as typhoons can improve CPS resilience and potentially mitigate large-scale blackouts during disasters.
