Small-Signal Modeling and Analysis of Offshore Wind-Farms-Side MMC Based on Linear Time-Periodic Theory
Electromagnetic oscillations pose a threat to the operation of wind-farms-side modular multilevel converter (MMC). However, the internal dynamics of offshore wind-farms-side MMC make the linear time-invariant (LTI) modeling no longer suitable for dynamics analysis. Therefore, the linear time-periodic (LTP) theory is applied in this paper. The small-signal model considering the time-varying characteristics of offshore wind-farms-side MMC is established using trajectory linearization. Then, its small-signal stability is analyzed based on LTP eigenvalue. In addition to the general current control, the influences of specific voltage and frequency (V-f) control on electromagnetic oscillations are further revealed. Finally, the effectiveness of the above analysis is verified in comparison with the nonlinear model.
