Modelling of DFIG Based Wind Turbines with Inertia Control for Frequency Response Study
An analytical linearized model of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbines (WTs) with synthetic inertia control for studying frequency response is developed with high accuracy and low computational cost. The simplified DFIG model are firstly derived according to stator flux orientation, as well as the active power control framework including frequency-related signals. In order to fully take dynamic process of rotor into account, the speed regulator which integrates the aerodynamics expression, power tracking curve and swing equation, is further embedded in power control block, such that the physical properties and frequency response of DFIG based WT could be clarified. The simulated results of a generic two-machine system verify that the proposed model is effective for analyzing system frequency dynamics, and the accuracy and efficiency could still be guaranteed in cases of different control parameters.
