Assessment Method for Minimum Inertia Considering the Differences in Support Characteristics of Various Types of Renewable Energy Sources

This paper addresses the assessment of minimum inertia demand in large-scale renewable energy systems, considering the dynamic safety constraints of system frequency and the response characteristics of various frequency regulation resources. It establishes frequency response models for different types of regulation resources under typical control methods, accurately representing their behaviors. Additionally, a minimum inertia demand assessment method is proposed, factoring in the initial rate of frequency change as a constraint. This approach effectively accounts for the impacts of renewable energy control elements and parameters, allowing for comprehensive quantification of minimum inertia requirements while ensuring the dynamic safety of system frequency. Validation through simulations.
