Endoscopic resection for primary large esophageal mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma
Extranodal lymphoma is most common in the gastrointestinal tract, with the stomach being the most frequently affected site, followed by the small intestine and the ileocolon.Primary esophageal lymphoma is a rare disease, accounting for less than 1% of all primary gastrointestinal lymphomas. Most gastrointestinal lymphomas are mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphomas.Due to the rarity of esophageal MALT lymphoma, there is no established standard treatment.Various treatment options, including endoscopic or surgical resection, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, may be attempted. This case report presents a successful endoscopic mucosal resection of a primary esophageal MALT lymphoma that was observed as a large subepithelial tumor in the lower esophagus.
