Surgical management of congenital bifid tongue with associated cleft palate, tongue and palatal hamartoma: A rare case report
Congenital bifid tongue is a rare developmental anomaly, typically associated with other oral malformations such as cleft palate and lingual hamartomas. In this case study, we present a unique instance of a patient with congenital bifid tongue, cleft palate, tongue and a palatal hemartoma. The clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and the multidisciplinary surgical approach employed for management are detailed. Surgical excision of the hamartoma, along with simultaneous repair of the bifid tongue, was performed, yielding both functionally and aesthetically satisfactory outcomes, with properly measurable improvements including enhanced feeding ability, and normal tongue movement. This case highlights the complexity of managing such rare oral malformations and underscores the importance of early intervention for optimal results.
