Enhancing science education: The role of accessible laboratories for students with visual impairment

The importance of accessible laboratories settings for students with visual impairments in science education is explored in this study. Due to their dependence on visual cues, traditional laboratory settings provide difficulties and restrict full involvement. To find successful accessibility solutions, a systematic review of 18 research publications was carried out. The results emphasize the value of alternate sensory-based experiments, assistive technology and tactile materials in improving understanding and engagement. Adaptive lab equipment, like 3D models and speech-activated gadgets, greatly enhances self-directed learning. In order to promote inclusion, the study highlights the necessity of continuous modifications to lab design and teaching strategies. By putting these techniques into practice, accessibility gaps can be closed and students with visual impairments can be given equitable chances in STEM education.
