Field incidence of Angoumois grain moth Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier) and susceptibility of stored rice
AbstractSusceptibility of different rice varieties to Angoumois grain moth (AGM) infestation was assessed before harvest and during storage conditions. A total of 18 rice varieties (released and pre-released) were monitored for AGM infestation. In the pre-harvest stage, BPT 3291 and BPT 1768 exhibited significantly lower adult emergence (57.0 and 61.0 moths, respectively) with 0.67% grain damage. Conversely, BPT 2270 and BPT 2824 recorded maximum adult emergence (267.67 and 269.33 moths, respectively) and grain damage (6.33 and 6.67%, respectively). In storage conditions, BPT Rice 2841 was found least susceptible with the lowest average number of AGM adults (72.67) and minimal grain damage (5.67%), while BPT 2595 was the most susceptible variety with maximum emergence of moths and grain damage (362 moths and 14%, respectively).
