The Study on the Challenges of Pharmaceutical E-Commerce Development under the Dual-Channel Background
Driven by the “dual-channel” policy, pharmaceutical e-commerce has become an important participant in the reform of the drug supply system; however, its development faces multidimensional challenges. This study systematically analyzes the core dilemmas of the industry from the perspectives of policy implementation and market competition. First, the disparities in regional medical insurance systems and the cost control mechanisms of hospitals restrict the efficiency of prescription outflow, resulting in high cross-regional service costs. Second, the high standards required for cold chain logistics and the profit compression of centralized procurement drugs create a contradiction between cost and efficiency, limiting the market coverage capability at the grassroots level. Third, the oligopolistic monopoly pattern and competition from traditional pharmacy instant delivery services squeeze the survival space of small and medium-sized enterprises. Fourth, insufficient professional pharmaceutical service capabilities and data security risks reduce patient trust, impacting the online process of prescription drugs. The study proposes that strategies such as mutual recognition of regional qualifications, the application of intelligent logistics technology, and deep cultivation of vertical niche markets are needed to synergize policy resources and market forces, optimizing the industry ecosystem. This paper provides an analytical framework for the practical contradictions between healthcare policy and digital economy integration, and offers policy insights for the sustainable development path of pharmaceutical e-commerce.
