Biometrics for the elderly people: a survey
Biometric recognition aims to recognize subjects based on the biological and behavioural characteristics automatically. As the global trend of population aging intensifies, many elderly people face challenges to cooperate with biometric systems due to health issues or cognitive impairments. The recognition accuracy would be influented due to age-related changes in physical characteristics, such as increased wrinkles. Recently, biometrics for the elderly people has drawn attentions. In this work, we present a comprehensive survey of recent progress in biometrics of the elderly people with various data modalities. Specifically, we study the challenges, methods, and datasets for various data modalities, followed by insightful advice for the development of biometric systems and products.
