Boys Versus Girls Youth Sports Participation Risk for Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Behavioral, Physical Health, and Neurocognitive Outcomes
The association between sports participation and mTBI risks differs by sex for certain sports. Compared to girls, boys had a higher mTBI risk in tennis but a lower mTBI risk in swimming/water polo. This indicates that implementing sex-specific strategies to mitigate mTBI risks in sports participation could be beneficial.
