The optimum reinforcement length for ring footing resting on sandy soils resisting inclined load
Abstract The primary components of successful engineering projects are time, cost, and quality. The use of the ring footing ensures the presence of these elements. This investigation aims at finding the effective length of geogrid reinforcement layers under ring footing, which is subjected to inclined loading. For this purpose, experimental models were used. The parameters were studied in order to find the effective reinforcement length, including the ring footing optimum radius ratio, optimum depth ratio of the first reinforcement layer, and optimum reinforcement length. The results of the experimental study showed the optimum radius ratio, optimum reinforcement depth, and optimum reinforcement length to be 0.4, 0.25 B , and 5 B , respectively. The tilting improvement ratio due to soil enhancement for the load inclination angles 5, 10, and 15° were 10, 12, and 15%, respectively
