Multiple Criteria Optimization of Fleet Location and Composition Problems. Case Study Concerning Shared Cargo Bikes

The paper presents the application of multiple criteria optimization to solving a combined fleet (cargo bikes) location and composition problems in a medium sized metropolitan area (Wroclaw, Poland). The strategic decision problem refers to the implementation of the cargo bike rental system and consists in finding the most desired/ satisfactory locations of the cargo bike stations and defining the type and size of the fleet (cargo bikes) at each station (location). The decision problem is formulated as a multiple objective mathematical programming model and solved with the application of a two-stage procedure, incl. 1. Generation of a sample of Pareto-optimal solutions by the Epsilon constraints method and 2. Review and assessment of these solutions by the Topsis method. The results of computational experiments are demonstrated.
