Performance Analysis of a Joint Detection and Delay-Doppler Estimation Algorithm for MIMO Radars

In [1], three detectors are designed for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output radar systems, which are capable of detecting a target and estimating its position within the cell under test in the delay-Doppler domain. Among the three proposed detectors, the TS-GLRT-D based upon the two-step generalized likelihood ratio test demonstrates a comprehensive superiority over the other two in the considered illustrative analysis. Thus, in this paper, a detailed performance investigation for the TS-GLRT-D is conducted by focusing on three aspects. Numerical examples show that such a detector returns a probability of false alarm that is insensitive to the clutter to noise ratio. In addition, it still maintains advantages over the competitors even in the case of a low volume of secondary data or virtual array manifold mismatch.
