Low Polarization Mode Dispersion Double Nested Antiresonant Nodeless Fiber Cable by Fiber Spinning
The double nested antiresonant nodeless Fiber (DNANF) has been proposed as a promising solution for long-distance fiber optic communication systems. Polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is a key indicator of the transmission quality of optical signals in long-distance fiber optic communication systems. In G.652 fibers, PMD is mainly influenced by the fiber's geometric deformation, asymmetric stress, and both micro- and macro-bending conditions. The complex multi-layer nested design of DNANF makes it susceptible to geometric deformation caused by variations in pressure and furnace temperature during the manufacturing process, as well as changes in micro- and macro-bending and transverse load during the cabling process, all of which can lead to an increase in PMD. To reduce the PMD of DNANF, this paper studies the effect of geometric deformation on phase birefringence and, based on the stranded loose tube air-blown micro cable (GCYFY) process, introduces controllable mode coupling by applying spin to DNANF, thereby reducing the PMD coefficients of DNANF cables to 0.046 ps/km1/2. This provides a new approach for the preparation of low-PMD DNANF cables.
