Education Research: Medical Student Perspectives on Stigma in Functional Neurologic Disorder
Patients with functional neurologic disorder (FND) report experiencing stigma in the health care setting, but little is known about how physicians-in-training develop beliefs that result in stigmatization. Therefore, we sought to explore medical students' experiences of stigma toward patients with FND, particularly regarding stigmatizing language and behavior toward patients with FND, the impact of stigma on the medical care of patients with FND, and the approach to FND encouraged by students' medical education.
